The cost of the PSP exam varies based on ASIS membership status. For ASIS members, the exam fee is $580 USD, while for non-members, it is $910 USD. Exam fees for certifications vary by country and also influenced by local taxes and currency exchange rates. Therefore, the final certification fee will be displayed once you add the exam to your cart on ASIS website.

The ASIS PSP exam is 2.5 hours (150 minutes) long.

The PSP exam consists of approximately 140 multiple-choice questions. This includes 125 scored questions and 15 unscored pre-test questions.

A minimum scaled score of 650 is required to pass the ASIS PSP exam.

The ASIS PSP exam can be taken either online via remote proctoring or at a designated testing center. You can take it online from home via Prometrics's ProProctor.

Eligibility for the PSP exam depends on your educational background and experience. You need 3-5 years of progressive physical security experience. Specifically, this means four years of experience with a bachelor's degree or higher, or six years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must also be employed full-time in a security-related role and have no criminal convictions that would negatively impact the profession.

The PSP exam covers three broad domains: Physical Security Assessment (34%), Application, Design, and Integration of Physical Security Systems (35%), and Implementation of Physical Security Measures (31%).

The ASIS PSP certification is valid for three years. To maintain the certification, holders must meet recertification requirements, including earning 60 continuing professional education (CPE) credits.

The exam is a computer-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions. There are four answer options for each question.

ASIS recommends several reference materials, including 'Protection of Assets (POA): Physical Security,' 'Implementing Physical Protection Systems – A Practical Field,' the 'Physical Asset Protection Standard,' and the 'Business Continuity Management Guideline.' ASIS also offers a study guide, flashcards, and practice exams.
