The application fee to take the CFE exam is $475, which covers your first attempt at all four sections, including the Law section. Retakes for any failed section cost $110 per section. Exam fees for certifications vary by country and also influenced by local taxes and currency exchange rates.

Each section of the CFE exam, including the Law section, has a time limit of two hours.

The Law section of the CFE exam consists of 100 questions. The entire CFE exam comprises 400 questions in total, divided among the four sections.

To pass the CFE exam, you must achieve a score of 75% or higher on each of the four sections, including the Law section.

An approved CFE Exam Application is required.

The Law section of the CFE exam covers topics such as criminal and civil law, rules of evidence, rights of the accused and accuser, testifying, an overview of the legal system, laws related to fraud, bankruptcy fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, tax fraud, individual rights during examinations, and the criminal and civil justice systems.

The CFE certification is valid as long as the holder maintains their ACFE membership, adheres to the Code of Professional Ethics, and meets the continuing professional education (CPE) requirements annually. The exam eligibility to complete all four sections is 60 days once activated, and the application is valid for two years.

The CFE exam, including the Law section, is a computer-based, closed-book, and closed-notes examination. It consists of 100 multiple-choice and True/False questions per section. Each section is taken separately.
